⬛ Komende dagen: neutraal zolang 7.600 houdt. Onder 7.600 komt eerst ongeveer 7.562 in beeld en daarna de zone 7.500–7.488.
🟩 Surprise: positief.

QQQ geeft hetzelfde beeld.

SOXX blijft zwakker.

Vandaag: negatief.

English version

7,600 sets the short-term tone — pressure only eases above 7,691

SPX closed Friday at 7,623.68, only 23.7 points above the 7,600 put wall. The last validated dealer structure was in negative gamma, with zero gamma at 7,690.89, the Swing Line at 7,726.2 and net GEX of roughly -$47.7 billion. The index spent the entire session below the gamma flip and reached a low of 7,612.07, close to 7,600. Sellers therefore retain the short-term advantage until 7,691 is reclaimed.

Oil, rates and AI credit remain relevant alongside the options structure. Problems in AI financing have been building for some time and should not be presented as something that suddenly appeared on Friday. The difference between equities and credit does matter, however. Chips stabilised on Friday, while CoreWeave remains at distressed credit levels and CDS in Meta, Oracle and Amazon attracted renewed attention this week. Brent also closed above $116 and fresh attacks on Saudi oil facilities followed over the weekend. The market can therefore face pressure from several directions on Monday.
🟥 Today: negative. Below 7,691, the short-term structure remains weak. The 7,600 level is only 0.31% below the close and is the first boundary that needs to hold.
⬛ Coming days: neutral as long as 7,600 holds. Below 7,600, roughly 7,562 comes into view first, followed by the 7,500–7,488 area.
🟩 Surprise: positive. First reclaim 7,691 and then 7,726. Only then does the short-term dealer structure improve materially. Confirmation from QQQ, NDX, semiconductors and calmer AI credit would make that scenario much stronger.

Options and dealer structure

The last SPX dealer map places the put wall at 7,600, zero gamma at 7,690.89, the Swing Line at 7,726.2 and the call wall at 8,100. From Friday's close, 7,600 is 23.7 points lower, zero gamma is 67.2 points higher and the Swing Line sits 102.5 points above the index. The call wall is more than 6% above spot and is far less relevant for Monday than the levels sitting directly around the market.

Negative gamma is what matters here. As long as SPX trades below the flip, dealer hedging can add to a decline rather than damp it. Friday did not produce an extreme version of that dynamic, but the index still finished just above the main put zone. A break below 7,600 would therefore carry more weight than an ordinary technical support failure.

Friday's options flow remained defensive. Roughly 1.98 million calls and 2.44 million puts traded, producing a put/call volume ratio of 1.23. About 74% of traded dollar premium went into puts. Across the full chain, roughly 23.7 million contracts were open, split between about 9.6 million calls and 14.1 million puts. That gives a put/call open-interest ratio of roughly 1.47. The 25-delta skew also remained firmly tilted toward downside protection, with puts carrying about 6.1 volatility points more premium than comparable calls.

The market prices roughly 0.81% of movement into the next session. From 7,623.68, that is about 62 points and a range of roughly 7,562 to 7,685. The move priced to the end of the coming trading week is around 1.78%, or about 136 points, giving a broader range of roughly 7,488 to 7,759. The lower end of the daily range therefore sits immediately below the 7,600 put wall, while the upper end remains below the Swing Line. The index needs to reclaim ground before the short-term picture improves materially.

Volatility, rates and AI credit

VIX closed Friday at 19.45. VIX1D stood at 16.81, VIX9D at 18.70 and VIX3M at 20.48. The index curve still rises with maturity. That is not a panic structure. VVIX at 109.7 nevertheless shows that demand for volatility protection remains well above the calmer levels seen earlier this month.

AI credit belongs in this part of the analysis because funding costs can feed directly into the largest technology weights in the index. CoreWeave is the extreme case. It has roughly $50 billion of debt, five-year CDS near 1,200 basis points and bonds that traded at yields of roughly 15% to 16% last week. That profile should not be extrapolated directly to Microsoft, Alphabet or Amazon, whose balance sheets and cash flows are far stronger.

The relevant issue is the price of financing the next hundreds of billions of dollars of AI investment. Meta's five-year CDS reached a record 114.79 basis points on Thursday after the company lifted the lower end of its capex outlook to $135 billion. Oracle credit protection was also near record levels and Amazon's near the highest since 2020. Bond investors are therefore asking for more compensation when capex and financing expand faster.

For SPX and NDX, that can work in either direction. Strong Microsoft, Alphabet and Amazon results with healthy free cash flow could ease much of the concern quickly. Another round of capex increases without sufficient cash generation could pressure both equities and credit again. In negative gamma, the index can react more aggressively to that combination.

Oil is the second external factor. Brent closed Friday at $116.72. Further attacks on Saudi energy infrastructure have since been reported. Those developments have not yet been priced by the futures market. A higher oil opening could push the US 10-year yield back towards or through 5% and limit the room for a technology recovery.

Confirmation and invalidation

The Nasdaq 100 closed Friday around 28,958 and was also in negative gamma. Its put wall was around 28,950, almost exactly where the index finished. The gamma flip was much higher near 29,796 and the call wall around 29,675. Nasdaq stabilised on Friday, but its options structure did not repair itself.

QQQ shows the same pattern. The ETF closed around 704.40, with a put wall at 700, a call wall around 725 and a gamma flip near 732. Net gamma remained negative. A move below 700 together with SPX below 7,600 would provide much stronger downside confirmation.

IWM looks different. The Russell 2000 ETF closed around 275.75. Its put wall was around 275, the call wall at 278 and the gamma flip near 276. Net dealer gamma was positive. Small caps therefore do not yet indicate broad capitulation. The Russell 2000 gained roughly 2% over the full week.

SOXX remains weaker. The semiconductor ETF closed at 478.20 and remained in negative gamma. Its put wall was around 450, the call wall at 520 and the gamma flip much higher near 541. Friday's modest rebound did not repair that structure.

For Monday, we therefore use several levels together. SPX below 7,600 combined with QQQ below 700 and NDX below 28,950 would confirm renewed broadening of the selling pressure. Further widening in AI credit would add weight to that signal. On the upside, SPX first needs to reclaim 7,691 and then 7,726. QQQ would then need to move towards 725 and semiconductors must continue to recover. If credit spreads also stop widening, the quality of that rally improves considerably.

Conclusion

SPX starts Monday too close to 7,600 to describe the short-term structure as neutral. The index is below the gamma flip, dealer gamma is negative and Friday's options flow was put-heavy. There is still no capitulation, however. VIX remains below 20, small caps are holding up relatively well and semiconductors did not accelerate lower again on Friday.

That makes 7,600 the first test. If it holds, a recovery towards 7,691 remains possible. Above 7,691, pressure eases and above 7,726 the setup improves clearly. If 7,600 breaks, the priced daily lower boundary sits near 7,562, followed by the 7,500–7,488 area.

AI credit is used here as confirmation, not as a separate sell signal. CoreWeave's stress has been present for some time. What matters on Monday is whether credit deteriorates further while equities try to find support. If that happens while 7,600 breaks, the decline carries more weight. If credit calms and SPX reclaims the gamma levels, the recovery can move quickly.

Today: negative.
