De reden is puur disciplinair. De posities staan stevig in de plus en hebben gedaan wat zij moesten doen. Bij dit soort winsten is het sterker om resultaat veilig te stellen dan om onnodig risico te blijven dragen voor het laatste stuk potentiële winst.

Deze sluitingen draaien puur om discipline. Marvell Technology, MongoDB en ServiceNow staan binnen deze optieconstructies duidelijk in de plus. De trades hebben hun werk gedaan en juist dan moet professioneel worden gehandeld. Winst die al in de positie zit, moet niet onnodig worden blootgesteld aan een scherpe draai, dalende premie of veranderende implied volatility.

Bij Marvell Technology is dat extra duidelijk. De positie heeft nog maar een zeer korte resterende looptijd en het aandeel is hard opgelopen. Daardoor is de spread al sterk in waarde gestegen. Bij zo’n combinatie van korte looptijd, hoge implied volatility en een stevige koersbeweging wordt winst veiligstellen belangrijker dan blijven zitten voor het laatste stuk potentieel.

Ook MongoDB en ServiceNow hebben mooie resultaten opgeleverd. Daar is de resterende looptijd ruimer, maar het uitgangspunt blijft hetzelfde. Wanneer een bull call spread al stevig in de winst staat, gaat het niet alleen om de theoretische maximale winst. Het gaat vooral om de vraag hoeveel risico nog gedragen moet worden om extra rendement af te dwingen.

Deze sluitingen betekenen niet automatisch dat de visie op Marvell Technology, MongoDB of ServiceNow negatief is geworden. Het gaat om het afronden van eerder ingenomen optieconstructies. Als de setup later opnieuw aantrekkelijk wordt, kunnen wij altijd opnieuw instappen met een nieuwe optieconstructie.

We are closing three previously opened bull call spreads at a profit today. These are not new trades, but existing positions that were entered earlier and are now being removed from the portfolio.

The reason is purely discipline. The positions are firmly profitable and have done what they needed to do. With gains like these, securing the result is stronger than continuing to carry unnecessary risk for the final part of potential upside.

Trade view

These closures are purely about discipline. Marvell Technology, MongoDB and ServiceNow are clearly profitable within these option structures. The trades have done their job and that is exactly when professional execution matters. Gains that are already embedded in the position should not remain unnecessarily exposed to a sharp reversal, premium decay or changing implied volatility.

For Marvell Technology, that is especially clear. The position has very little time left and the stock has moved sharply higher. As a result, the spread has already increased strongly in value. With that combination of short duration, elevated implied volatility and a powerful price move, securing the profit becomes more important than staying in for the final part of potential upside.

MongoDB and ServiceNow have also delivered strong results. Their remaining duration is longer, but the principle is the same. When a bull call spread is already firmly profitable, the question is not only how much theoretical upside remains. The key question is how much risk still needs to be carried to pursue additional return.

These closures do not automatically mean that the view on Marvell Technology, MongoDB or ServiceNow has turned negative. This is about finalizing previously entered option structures. If the setup becomes attractive again later, we can always step back in with a new option structure.
