■Bitcoin: Bitcoin noteert rond 63.860 dollar.
Wij willen zien of daar opnieuw kracht terugkomt.
English
â– Market view and Europe: European markets look set for a mixed open, but the underlying tone remains good. The market remains tricky because of oil, Iran and geopolitics, but we continue to see this as a buy-on-dips market. The AEX looks slightly higher and Europe remains close to home. That is not an exuberant start, but it is not weak either. The key point is that investors are again looking through a lot of noise.
â– Wall Street: Wall Street closed somewhat higher, but the picture was sticky and mixed. Software was lower and the Magnificent 7 were somewhat disappointing, but chip stocks and memory names were strong. That matters, because this strength can again support European chip stocks and suppliers.
â– U.S. futures: The S&P 500 future and Nasdaq 100 future are both about 0.1% higher. That is no reason to dance on the table, but it does fit the buy-on-dips picture. The market is slowly moving higher, without real acceleration yet.
â– Asia: Asia looks somewhat better. The Kospi gains about 3% and mainly benefits from the strong chip sector in the United States. That is positive, but we do not want to exaggerate it. South Korea has been moving sharply on chip momentum recently, so the signal is good, but not decisive.
â– CPI: U.S. consumer prices came in friendly to neutral. There is no major pain there for now. That helps the market, because inflation is not immediately creating renewed stress. Still, the market remains sensitive to oil, rates and new political headlines from the United States.
â– Rates: The U.S. 10-year yield is about 2 basis points lower at 4.68%. The German yield trades around 3.16%. These are still elevated levels and rates can always spoil the picture, but right now the rates market is not giving a panic signal.
â– Oil, Iran and midterms: Oil is slightly lower and that can support the market. Still, Iran remains a risk, because reports around talks with the United States remain contradictory. Heading into the U.S. midterms, this can remain politically sensitive. As long as oil does not break out, the market looks through it, but a sudden rise can quickly disturb the picture.
â– Currencies and carry trade: Euro/dollar trades around 1.1520 and dollar/yen around 159.3. In Japan, signals continue that rates may rise further, but the unwind of the carry trade seems largely behind us. The carry trade is basically borrowing cheaply in Japan and investing that money elsewhere. That risk is therefore not gone, but it looks less explosive than before.
â– Gold and silver: Gold and silver are mixed, but the tone remains good. After the rise of the past few days, consolidation makes sense. As long as precious metals continue to grind higher, the picture remains constructive.
â– Bitcoin: Bitcoin trades around 63,860 dollars. Inflows into bitcoin ETFs are increasing again and that is positive. Still, the chart does not convince yet. We continue to follow bitcoin, but do nothing for now as long as the price itself does not give a stronger signal.
â– Crypto stocks: Crypto-related stocks in the United States were mostly higher, but not very convincing. That fits bitcoin itself: inflows are improving, but price momentum still needs to follow.
■Adyen: Adyen’s numbers are strong and the outlook has been raised. For 2026, Adyen now expects 21% to 23% net revenue growth at constant currencies, versus 20% to 22% previously. The buyback is also good news. More importantly, Adyen has a strong cash position, with €12.4 billion in total cash and €4.9 billion in cash excluding short-term merchant items. That allows Adyen to keep investing smartly in future building blocks, such as Orb, and to further strengthen its AI position. Our Investment view on Adyen is positive. The stock remains volatile, but we continue to support the idea of buying a small position and adding on dips.
■ABN AMRO: ABN AMRO’s results confirm Citigroup’s positive view. Net interest income was 3% above consensus, fees were 5% higher and costs were 3% lower. The outlook for commercial net interest income is also better than expected, while the €0.68 dividend per share is 7% above consensus. Citigroup sees 15% return on equity and 10% annual capital return over time. Our Investment view on ABN AMRO is positive, because interest income, cost control, fees and capital returns are all strong.
â– HelloFresh: HelloFresh reports numbers and remains a stock where we first need evidence. The market will mainly look at margins, cash flow, customer development and the sustainability of the outlook. This is not a name to aggressively buy in advance. First, the numbers need to show that stabilization is really continuing.
â– Fastned: Fastned has raised its margin outlook after strong half-year numbers. That fits our earlier positive view. We are already in this position after the VWAP line was broken and since then the stock has moved up nicely. The new numbers look good and can support further upside. This remains a stock we want to own, with normal discipline around position size and risk.
â– Prosus: Prosus is a recovery candidate today. Tencent was hit by concerns around AI capex, while the numbers were not bad underneath. The market mainly punished the investment pressure. We think Prosus can try to recover after that reaction, although Just Eat Takeaway remains the weak spot within the story for us.
â– Shurgard: Shurgard remains technically weak after another disappointing update. The long-term trend is downward and fundamentally this is not a quality case. Still, the share price is now so low that traders may try to force a short bounce. This remains at most a trading watch.
â– Triodos: Triodos reported a sharply higher first-half result. That is positive, but we follow this stock from a distance. For now, this is not a name we want to actively do anything with.
â– Cabka: Cabka reported numbers and posted a profit. That is fine in itself, but we do nothing with this. The stock remains too small and too specific for us to actively pick up.
â– Pharming: Pharming announced that Joenja is being introduced in Japan for APDS patients. That may temporarily attract buyers again, but we remain skeptical. With Pharming, we too often see positive news being bought briefly and then producing little structurally.
â– AEX options: We are getting more questions about the AEX and the option data we publish daily. Those data go through our own filters and software, also including broader signals from Germany, the S&P 500 and Nasdaq. Despite recent dips, the picture remains constructive for the AEX. We are also looking at whether we can do more with AEX options, but the available data are less deep than in the U.S. market.
■COMAC: The C919’s first international commercial flight, from Beijing to Ulaanbaatar, is symbolically important for China. The aircraft targets the same market as the Boeing 737 MAX and Airbus A320neo, but we do not see COMAC as a direct threat to Airbus or Boeing for now. The C919 still depends on foreign components, lacks broad U.S. and European certification and production remains very small. Global service, spare parts, maintenance and reliability also still need to be proven. For Airbus, this is mainly geopolitical noise. For Boeing, it is somewhat more sensitive because of its own problems, but COMAC is still too small to truly break the duopoly.
â– European chip stocks: European chip stocks can again receive support from the strong U.S. chip sector. The strength in chip stocks and memory names is especially important. The market continues to buy dips in the chip chain, because AI capex ultimately keeps flowing toward equipment, packaging and new chip technology.
â– Packaging Basket: Earlier this week, we bought a basket around packaging and hybrid bonding, with 16 stocks including AAOI. That basket is already in profit. The theme benefits directly from strength in chips and AI capex. As chips become more powerful, interconnects, packaging and architecture become increasingly important.
â– Cybersecurity: The article about AI escapes and cybersecurity was published yesterday. The idea remains that AI structurally increases the size of the cybersecurity market. As AI agents, autonomous systems and robotics continue to grow, security becomes more important. This is not a short-term hype, but a long-term theme.
â– Goldman and chip technology: Today we want to publish another long read on new technologies within the chip sector. The angle partly comes from a Goldman Sachs report and revolves around copper, cables, optics, packaging and the infrastructure needed to connect chips faster and more efficiently. We arrive at a number of possible winners for the longer term.
â– Cisco: Cisco first moved higher after the numbers, but eventually ended about 4% lower. The market is punishing the stock because much revenue and profit still comes from the traditional business. We turn that around. That traditional business can finance AI growth, while AI at Cisco is growing fast. That is why we find Cisco interesting on dips and may look at an option structure later today.
â– Applied Materials: Applied Materials reports after the close and we expect strong results. The question is whether we dare to do something beforehand with very short-dated options. That can be interesting, but remains speculative. Watching is not the same as trading.
â– Marvell Technology: Marvell Technology is one of the names we are looking at more closely within copper, optics, connectivity and new chip architecture. In our view, the stock fits the next phase of AI infrastructure, where not only the chip itself matters, but especially the connection between chips. This is not a fast day trade, but a possible long-term position.
â– Intel: We bought calls on Intel yesterday. The idea is that the stock can move further higher. The option flows look somewhat similar to what we previously saw in SpaceX, although not exactly the same. The signal is that Intel can suddenly move sharply higher. That is why we continue to follow this actively.
â– High Risk Trading: Yesterday a new section was started: High Risk Trading. An S&P 500 call spread was bought with a maturity of about one and a half days. The probability of success is very small, but if such a position works, the payoff can be large. This is extremely risky and absolutely not suitable as a normal investment.
â– SpaceX: SpaceX previously appeared in the option overview with clear bullish signals from the options market. Since then, the stock has performed very well. We did nothing with it ourselves, but it does show that unusual option trades can sometimes provide valuable signals.
â– Oracle: Oracle remains a fascinating story. Its debt load is only one notch above junk and that scares investors. At the same time, Oracle can benefit from the enormous support NVIDIA wants to provide to the AI chain. Oracle is playing the chessboard smartly and can therefore move higher, although the stock remains very volatile.
â– Cerebras: Cerebras reported weaker numbers and fell about 17% after hours. The stock may open around 217 dollars, but that is still well above its low. We follow Cerebras with interest and may later look at options, but for now we let it run.
â– Software: Software was somewhat lower in the United States yesterday. We want to see whether strength returns there. If software starts to recover again, that can broaden the market beyond chips.
â– Closing view: The market remains tricky, but the underlying tone is good. August and September can remain sticky or volatile, but for us the glass is more half full than half empty. That does not mean being fully invested. It does mean we continue to look for opportunities on dips, especially in strong results, chips, AI infrastructure, cybersecurity, Adyen, Fastned and selective option flows.
