♦️ Dagelijkse chips briefing: Anthropic - Open AI - SOX - UMC - AVGO - META en meer
The semiconductor industry enters the new trading week facing a widening divergence between exceptionally strong hardware demand and increasing financial risks. South Korea reported a 259.4% surge in chip exports, memory manufacturers continue benefiting from elevated prices, and Taiwanese suppliers are seeing new opportunities in optical chips and silicon wafers. At the same time, US semiconductor stocks suffered severe losses on Friday as concerns about financing new AI data centers intensified.
Credit markets deserve particular attention. Blackstone expects Anthropic may fail to secure an investment-grade rating following its planned IPO, S&P has revised Meta's credit outlook to negative, and major suppliers are becoming increasingly involved in financing AI infrastructure. Physical demand for computing power remains strong, but investors are becoming more critical of the relationship between capital expenditure, future cash generation and credit risk.
