De reden is puur disciplinair. De resterende looptijd is zeer kort geworden en de posities staan in de plus. Bij spreads met nog maar enkele dagen tot expiratie kan een sterke winst snel teruglopen door één scherpe beweging in het aandeel, dalende premie of veranderende implied volatility. Deze sluitingen draaien puur om discipline. Cloudflare, Microchip Technology, Marathon Digital Holdings en Vertiv Holdings staan binnen deze optieconstructies in de plus. De resterende looptijd is inmiddels zeer kort geworden. Daardoor is het sterker om winst veilig te stellen dan om nog onnodig risico te dragen voor het laatste stuk potentiële rendement.

Bij kortlopende bull call spreads draait het niet alleen om de richting van het aandeel. Timing, premieontwikkeling, implied volatility en de afstand tot de strikes worden steeds belangrijker naarmate expiratie dichterbij komt. Een positie kan er optisch goed uitzien, maar bij een scherpe draai in de onderliggende koers kan een groot deel van de opgebouwde winst snel verdwijnen.

Daarom worden deze posities nu afgerond. De trades hebben voldoende waarde geleverd en de risk/reward is minder aantrekkelijk geworden. Vooral bij namen met hoge implied volatility, zoals Marathon Digital Holdings en Cloudflare, kan premie snel bewegen. Dat maakt wachten op het laatste stukje winst minder sterk dan het veiligstellen van het huidige resultaat.

Deze sluitingen betekenen niet automatisch dat de visie op Cloudflare, Microchip Technology, Marathon Digital Holdings of Vertiv Holdings negatief is geworden. Het gaat om het sluiten van eerder ingenomen optieconstructies. Als de setup later opnieuw aantrekkelijk wordt, kunnen wij altijd opnieuw instappen met een nieuwe optieconstructie.

We are closing four previously opened bull call spreads at a profit today. These are not new trades, but existing positions that were entered earlier and are now being removed from the portfolio.

The reason is purely discipline. The remaining duration has become very short and the positions are profitable. With spreads that have only a few days left until expiration, a strong gain can fade quickly through one sharp move in the stock, lower premium or changing implied volatility. That is why we are securing the profit.

Trade view

These closures are purely about discipline. Cloudflare, Microchip Technology, Marathon Digital Holdings and Vertiv Holdings are profitable within these option structures. The remaining duration has now become very short. That makes securing the gains stronger than continuing to carry unnecessary risk for the final part of potential upside.

With short-dated bull call spreads, it is not only about the direction of the stock. Timing, premium development, implied volatility and the distance to the strikes become increasingly important as expiration approaches. A position can look strong on paper, but one sharp reversal in the underlying stock can quickly erase a large part of the accumulated gain.

That is why these positions are now being finalized. The trades have delivered enough value and the risk/reward has become less attractive. Especially in names with elevated implied volatility, such as Marathon Digital Holdings and Cloudflare, premium can move quickly. That makes waiting for the final piece of profit less compelling than securing the current result.

These closures do not automatically mean that the view on Cloudflare, Microchip Technology, Marathon Digital Holdings or Vertiv Holdings has turned negative. This is about closing previously entered option structures. If the setup becomes attractive again later, we can always step back in with a new option structure.
