🌟 Strategie: Free Ride en Dip Rip -> Veel cash en Money Management geeft nu voordeel
SCE Trader

🔵 English version

Free Ride and Dip Rip: money management is providing an advantage right now

We are publishing this update because we have received many questions about the losses within the Free Ride and Dip Rip portfolios. The current market environment shows why we deliberately kept exposure small. We had already expressed doubts about the broader market, communicated those concerns and positioned accordingly.

â–  Within the Free Ride portfolio, 12% is currently invested and 88% remains in cash.
â–  Within the Dip Rip portfolio, 8.5% is invested and 91.5% remains in cash, with individual positions generally ranging from 0.3% to 0.6%.
â–  As a practical indication, we use approximately 20% to 30% invested and around 70% to 80% in cash.
â–  Limited position sizes were deliberately chosen because nobody can predict exactly where an individual stock or the market will establish its bottom.
â–  After the current severe decline, we ultimately expect a substantial recovery move, although the level from which it begins remains to be seen.

The high cash allocation is therefore not accidental, but the result of money management. By avoiding large initial positions while the market outlook remained uncertain, we now have room to deploy substantially more capital later.

Investment view

We remain cautious in the short term, but we are not negative on the longer-term outlook. The market may decline further, while after such a severe correction the probability of a powerful recovery also increases. Because the level from which that move begins cannot be known in advance, we want to preserve substantial financial flexibility.

🟪 Small positions reduce the impact when an entry point proves too early.
🟪 The high cash allocation provides room to act again at more attractive levels.
🟪 Once the market stabilises and momentum turns, selected positions can be increased substantially.

Earlier this year, we fully reduced positions and secured profits. Positions were subsequently rebuilt gradually within the Free Ride and Dip Rip portfolios, but deliberately kept small. We had already raised concerns about elevated valuations in technology and semiconductors, the enormous investment in AI infrastructure, rising debt burdens and the pace at which that capital ultimately needs to generate returns.

Those concerns did not make us negative on the long-term outlook for AI and semiconductors. They did, however, give us a reason to take short-term risks more seriously and avoid becoming heavily invested immediately.

That is proving valuable now. A good company can still fall by several tens of percent when timing is wrong. Keeping the initial position small means such a move does not have to determine the overall strategy and leaves sufficient capital available for a better opportunity.

Individual positions within the Dip Rip portfolio are therefore generally only 0.3% to 0.6%. The Free Ride portfolio also contains positions explicitly intended for the longer term.

Money management gives us firepower

Nobody can consistently predict markets or individual stocks exactly. Good money management is therefore not about identifying every bottom, but about ensuring that poor timing remains manageable.

That is the advantage both portfolios have now. Because we did not enter with oversized positions, substantial cash remains available during the current correction.

That cash provides flexibility. If prices fall further, we can selectively establish additional small positions. Once selling pressure eases and upward momentum returns, we can become considerably more aggressive.

After the sharp declines, we ultimately expect a substantial recovery move as well, particularly once the semiconductor sector stabilises. We do not know exactly where the bottom will be, and we do not need to. Available capital allows us to respond once the market provides more evidence.

Conclusion

The limited exposure within the Free Ride and Dip Rip portfolios is deliberate. We had already expressed concerns about the market and therefore combined small positions with substantial cash.

That money management now provides flexibility. The decline may continue, but sufficient capital remains available to capture opportunities when valuations become more attractive and momentum returns.

Our approach therefore remains simple: stay small while market uncertainty remains elevated and only scale aggressively once the market stabilises convincingly.
