■ Schneider Electric: Zeer sterk.
■ Jensen Huang / CoreWeave: Het belangrijkste financiële risicothema.
■ TSMC: De fysieke AI-vraag blijft uitzonderlijk sterk.
■ Datacenters: De vraag vanuit datacenters groeide triple digit.
■ Commercieel belang: CoreWeave koopt daarnaast grote hoeveelheden NVIDIA-systemen.
■ 2026: TSMC verwacht nu ongeveer 44% omzetgroei over heel 2026 in dollars.
■ Capex: Het investeringsbudget blijft $60 miljard-$64 miljard.
■ TSMC / ASML: De fysieke bottlenecks blijven overeind.

AI chain stabilises: Schneider raises guidance, CoreWeave remains the credit test and TSMC confirms physical scarcity
© 2026 SCEtrader.nl - All rights reserved.
Friday, October 16, 2026
Research window: October 15, 07:55 to October 16, 07:55, Amsterdam time.
Selling pressure around AI and semiconductors is clearly easing on Friday morning. The SOX declined for a seventh consecutive US trading session on Thursday, although the loss moderated to 0.9%. South Korea's KOSPI is now rebounding by roughly 3% and Japan's Nikkei about 1.5%, while US and European equity futures have also edged higher. Our direction therefore shifts toward neutral to positive, although credit markets surrounding highly leveraged AI infrastructure remain an important warning signal.
Fresh corporate information reinforces the distinction between physical AI demand and financing. Schneider Electric has raised its outlook again on triple-digit data-center demand, TSMC continues to see leading-edge demand above available capacity and ASML cannot produce as many systems in 2027 and 2028 as customers want. CoreWeave demonstrates the opposite side of the equation: extraordinary commercial demand can coexist with a highly stressed debt and capex structure. Meanwhile, investors are becoming considerably more demanding about the ultimate monetisation of AI, as reflected in the reaction to Anthropic.
■ Market picture: Neutral to positive. Asia is recovering sharply, US and European futures are modestly higher and forced selling appears to be easing. A fully positive picture would also require narrower AI-infrastructure credit spreads.
■ Schneider Electric: Extremely strong. Q3 revenue of €11.46 billion, 17% organic growth, triple-digit data-center demand and another guidance increase. Schneider is increasingly one of Europe's most important AI-infrastructure beneficiaries.
■ Jensen Huang / CoreWeave: The most important financing-risk theme. NVIDIA itself has a large economic interest in CoreWeave's survival, while bond markets are substantially more critical of the capital structure than Huang.
■ TSMC: Physical AI demand remains exceptionally strong. TSMC raises its growth outlook, accelerates capacity additions and is now independently checking whether US data centers and their power infrastructure are actually being built.
■ ASML / BESI: ASML itself has become a supply bottleneck. Its work on hybrid bonding, however, has been known for months; for BESI this is at most a mild longer-term negative rather than a fresh fundamental shock.
■ Memory: Micron's new 2027 HBM capacity is already sold while equity markets discount future Chinese competition. SK hynix is meanwhile linking the future of Dalian with negotiations around additional US NAND manufacturing.
■ AI returns: Anthropic is still growing extraordinarily rapidly and reported adjusted profitability, but slower sequential growth has reduced valuation discussions. Markets increasingly want evidence that hundreds of billions of AI capex can produce sufficient revenue and cash flow.
Schneider Electric: record quarter and another guidance increase
■ Schneider Electric (SU): Q3 revenue reached a record €11.46 billion versus approximately €11.13 billion expected. Organic growth was 17%, clearly above the roughly 14% consensus.
■ Data centers: Data-center demand grew at a triple-digit rate. Schneider benefits through critical power distribution, cooling, racks, automation and energy management, monetising the infrastructure surrounding AI compute rather than the chips alone.
■ Guidance: Expected 2026 organic revenue growth rises to 12%-14% from 10%-13%. The target for organic adjusted EBITA growth increases from 14%-19% to 18%-21%.
■ Margin: Schneider also targets 100-120 basis points of organic adjusted EBITA margin expansion, with pricing expected to help offset raw-material inflation and tariffs.
■ Visibility: Demand remained healthy across all four end markets and backlog reached another record. Strong data-center orders provide increasing visibility into 2027 and 2028.
■ Investment View: Fundamentally, the numbers are exceptionally strong and Schneider increasingly belongs among the higher-quality AI-infrastructure equities outside pure semiconductors. It remains a difficult stock with significant technical volatility. We therefore first want to see the VWAP hold. If it does, a relatively rapid return toward the all-time high can come back into view.
Jensen Huang and CoreWeave: NVIDIA is defending its own economic interest as well
■ CoreWeave (CRWV): The shares initially fell more than 8% Thursday before reversing roughly 5% higher after Jensen Huang publicly expressed confidence. Credit markets remained substantially less optimistic.
■ Debt: CoreWeave carries approximately $50 billion in debt. The company previously increased annual capex expectations to as much as $39 billion, while analysts expect about $13 billion in 2026 revenue and still roughly $2.1 billion in losses.
■ Credit market: Bonds trade at yields associated with clear financial stress. Markets are therefore separating enormous AI-compute demand from whether that growth can be financed at economically sustainable rates.
■ Jensen Huang: Huang says CoreWeave's financial strength improves every day and does not believe a new NVIDIA financial backstop is required.
■ NVIDIA exposure: Huang is not an independent observer. NVIDIA is CoreWeave's second-largest investor with roughly 10% of the equity and therefore has a direct interest in a financially healthy CoreWeave.
■ Commercial interest: CoreWeave deploys large amounts of NVIDIA hardware. More difficult access to capital across neoclouds could eventually slow the pace at which new NVIDIA GPUs are installed.
■ Capacity commitment: NVIDIA also has a multi-year agreement, subject to conditions, to purchase unused CoreWeave capacity. This reduces utilisation risk but does not protect creditors against an overstretched balance sheet.
■ Backlog: CoreWeave has more than $100 billion of contracted revenue. This actually illustrates the key issue: demand is not the problem; the question is how much capital is required to convert the backlog into profitable free cash flow.
■ Desk read: CoreWeave remains our most important financial gauge for the neocloud layer. Sustained declines in bond yields and credit spreads would be a much stronger positive signal for AI infrastructure than equity recovery alone.
Anthropic: markets are measuring the return on AI capex more aggressively
■ Anthropic: Fresh information shows Q3 revenue increased 45% sequentially to $16.8 billion. The company also said it was profitable on an adjusted basis.
■ Deceleration: Absolute growth remains enormous, but sequential growth slowed sharply after revenue more than doubled from Q1 to Q2. Some investors were disappointed by that difference.
■ Valuation: Investors discussed a potential valuation around $1.5 trillion, materially below earlier expectations around $2 trillion.
■ AI capex: Anthropic has committed to at least $518 billion of cloud, compute and infrastructure spending over a decade. Alongside CoreWeave, it therefore becomes an important test of the economics behind the AI buildout.
■ Read-through: This does not show that current semiconductor demand is collapsing. It does show that future capex will increasingly be judged against demonstrable revenue growth, margins and free cash flow.
■ Desk read: The market is moving from “AI grows, therefore capex grows” toward “what return does each additional dollar of AI capex actually earn?”. That is a materially higher quality threshold for the entire ecosystem.
TSMC: its own teams are checking whether AI infrastructure is actually being built
■ TSMC (2330.TW): Quarterly revenue reached $46.72 billion and net income increased 69% to another record. Gross margin was 66.4%.
■ 2026: TSMC now expects approximately 44% US-dollar revenue growth for 2026, an exceptional signal from the most important node in the leading-edge supply chain.
■ Technology mix: 2nm already represented 8% of wafer revenue. Together, 2nm, 3nm, 5nm and 7nm accounted for 79%.
■ Agentic AI: TSMC sees additional demand from AI CPUs and networking alongside accelerators. Agentic AI therefore broadens silicon demand across the full system.
■ Independent checks: TSMC is now sending its own teams to US data-center projects to verify construction progress and power availability. Management says feedback is positive so far.
■ Capacity: The company is accelerating expansion of 3nm and 2nm and has already begun preparing for A14. Another 3nm fab in Tainan is scheduled to begin production in the first half of 2028.
■ Arizona: Construction of the second Arizona fab is complete and volume production is now planned for the third quarter of 2027, slightly earlier than previously expected.
■ Capex: The investment budget remains $60 billion-$64 billion, while total capex during 2026-2028 is expected to run clearly above the prior three years.
■ Desk read: TSMC is not showing a physical AI peak. Current bottlenecks lie more in financing, electricity, networking and packaging than a lack of advanced-wafer demand.
ASML and BESI: extraordinary equipment demand, but interpret hybrid bonding correctly
■ ASML: Fresh analysis confirms planned production capacity in both 2027 and 2028 is insufficient to satisfy current customer demand. ASML itself is increasingly becoming the bottleneck.
■ EUV: The company had targeted more than 110 EUV systems annually by 2028 and is evaluating whether roughly another dozen can be added.
■ 2029-2030: Customers are already discussing equipment requirements for 2029 and 2030. ASML does not want to sell those years out completely before all major customers have finalised their needs.
■ Down payments: New orders require significant advance payments, improving backlog quality and making speculative capacity reservations less likely.
■ Pricing power: ASML also expects price increases in 2027 and 2028. Scarcity, technological monopoly and long qualification cycles provide exceptional pricing power.
■ Hybrid bonding: ASML's work on hybrid-bonding technology is not a new 24-hour development. It has been publicly known for months and should not be reframed as a sudden new threat to BESI.
■ BESI: A credible future competitor is mildly negative over the long term, but a development project is not a qualified high-volume bonder. Throughput, yields, accuracy and customer qualification still need to be proven.
■ More important for BESI: The critical variable is the pace at which HBM manufacturers actually migrate toward die-to-wafer hybrid bonding. This affects the earnings curve sooner than a future ASML machine.
■ October 22: Quarterly orders become the next real datapoint. Concrete hybrid-bonding, photonics and advanced-packaging bookings will matter most.
■ Desk read: ASML remains fundamentally very strong; for BESI the known competitive threat is mildly negative, but Thursday's weakness should not be interpreted as evidence of a sudden new technological break.
Memory: current scarcity collides with future supply fears
■ Micron Technology (MU): Micron opened a new advanced assembly and testing facility in Taichung on Thursday, reinforcing Taiwan's critical role in the HBM chain.
■ HBM: The facility's 2027 HBM capacity is already fully sold, an exceptionally strong physical demand signal.
■ 2028: Micron expects HBM to continue growing faster than the wider DRAM market through 2028.
■ CXMT: China's 4F² route remains a genuine longer-term risk but is not fresh news inside the current research window. Equity markets nevertheless continue to discount the future threat aggressively.
■ Conventional DRAM: CXMT remains a more direct threat to standard DRAM than to HBM, where advanced DRAM must be combined with stacking, thermal management, packaging and close platform qualification.
■ Proof required: Genuine bearish confirmation requires competitive mass production, high yields, reliable products and rapid qualification at major customers. Architecture alone is insufficient.
■ Physical market: Fresh Micron information reinforces the earlier picture that physical supply remains more constrained than share prices suggest. New capacity only changes the balance once fabs are equipped, yields rise and packaging becomes available.
■ Labour risk: Taiwan is simultaneously dealing with a Micron labour dispute. The president called on both sides to negotiate seriously on Thursday. There is no production disruption at present.
■ Desk read: Memory equities can continue correcting without the physical cycle breaking. The opportunity becomes more interesting when shares decline much faster than HBM pricing, customer allocations and order commitments.
SK hynix and Solidigm: Dalian becomes part of the US fab strategy
■ SK hynix: Fresh reporting shows SK hynix wants Washington's approval for additional US chipmaking equipment at its NAND complex in Dalian.
■ Solidigm: At the same time, a new US NAND fab is being considered through Solidigm. US investment and access to Dalian are therefore becoming part of the same negotiation.
■ Dalian: The location contains unused manufacturing space that is difficult to fully utilise without additional US equipment.
■ Equipment: The fab uses tools from Lam Research, Applied Materials and KLA, making US export policy directly relevant to those equipment suppliers.
■ United States: SK hynix is separately exploring Intel capacity in Ohio and is already building HBM packaging capacity in Indiana.
■ Desk read: For equipment, this is not necessarily demand destruction. It may primarily shift the next investment dollar geographically from China toward the United States.
Infineon and Wolfspeed: 200mm SiC gains a direct AI-power component
■ Infineon / Wolfspeed: The companies signed a new multi-year agreement for 200mm silicon-carbide wafers, transitioning their existing relationship from 150mm to 200mm.
■ Manufacturing economics: Larger wafers provide more usable dies per wafer and support lower unit costs and greater scale.
■ AI data centers: Infineon explicitly identifies AI data-center power alongside electric vehicles and renewable energy as a growth market for SiC.
■ Power bottleneck: As rack power rises, efficient power conversion becomes increasingly important. Value therefore shifts partly from pure compute toward the entire electrical chain around the rack.
■ Supply chain: The agreement also strengthens the multi-source strategy supporting Infineon's 200mm SiC manufacturing in Kulim.
■ Desk read: This is an important read-through for the wider AI buildout: compute cannot scale if power conversion cannot keep pace.
Networking and optics: clusters are becoming larger, more heterogeneous and harder to connect
■ Arista / Broadcom: The final OCP day focused heavily on deep buffering. As AI clusters extend over greater distances, congestion management, buffering and job-completion time become increasingly critical.
■ High-power racks: Arista and Jabil also focused on practical integration of high-power, liquid-cooled AI racks, showing how networking, power, cooling, optics and the supply chain increasingly need to be designed as one system.
■ Marvell / HBM: Marvell addressed custom HBM more explicitly as a complete system in which the base die, die-to-die power and package thermals are co-designed with the accelerator.
■ Memory fabrics: Composable smart-memory fabrics around XPUs were another major topic. Memory is becoming less of a standalone component and more deeply integrated into compute architecture.
■ Semtech (SMTC): Semtech increased Q3 revenue guidance from $410 million to $417.5 million, adjusted operating margin from 31% to 33% and adjusted EPS from $1.05 to $1.14.
■ 2030: Its financial framework targets $3.2 billion of revenue, including $2.1 billion from data centers, with an adjusted operating margin of 48%-50%. These are targets rather than formal guidance.
■ Optical content: Semtech sees potential to capture more than ten times the current semiconductor content per optical module as AI networks move toward new architectures.
■ Market lesson: The weak share-price reaction despite stronger near-term guidance shows how elevated expectations had become. Positive earnings revisions no longer guarantee multiple expansion.
■ Desk read: Networking and optics remain structurally strong, but markets are no longer willing to pay any price for future AI growth.
Test and packaging: moving from development into high-volume production
■ Advantest: SEMICON West explicitly focused on silicon photonics, near-package optics and co-packaged optics moving toward high-volume manufacturing.
■ Test complexity: As optics move deeper into the package, calibration, throughput, optical instrumentation and test-cost requirements rise materially.
■ Teradyne: Technical sessions also focused on scalable final test for co-packaged optics and silicon photonics, making test an increasingly important constraint on AI-connectivity scaling.
■ High-power devices: Test providers simultaneously need to handle much greater power density, 3D stacks, HBM and increasingly demanding thermal conditions.
■ Advanced packaging: Intel emphasised that co-packaged optics can only scale once bonding, alignment, optical testing and yield control become industrialised together.
■ Desk read: This is structurally supportive for test and inspection suppliers. Greater chip complexity creates not only equipment demand but additional test insertions and higher economic value from yield control.
NVIDIA: physical AI and automotive broaden demand beyond neoclouds
■ Germany: Germany is preparing a broad cooperation agreement with NVIDIA to accelerate AI adoption in German industry, with investments reportedly reaching hundreds of millions of euros.
■ Physical AI: The initiative includes robotics, autonomous vehicles and high-performance industrial AI models.
■ Volvo: NVIDIA and Volvo Cars also expanded their collaboration around a new generation of driver-assistance and automated-driving technology.
■ Technology: Volvo will combine its safety technology with NVIDIA Hyperion, accelerated computing and autonomous-driving software.
■ Strategic meaning: NVIDIA demand is therefore broadening beyond hyperscaler and neocloud clusters into automotive, robotics and industrial inference.
■ Desk read: CoreWeave demonstrates how financing quality differs sharply by customer. Germany and Volvo simultaneously show that NVIDIA's addressable market remains much broader than debt-financed AI clouds alone.
Market structure: capitulation is easing, but investors remain selective
■ Asia: The KOSPI is rebounding roughly 3% Friday morning after Thursday's nearly 8% decline. The Nikkei is approximately 1.5% higher following a roughly 5% loss.
■ Futures: US and European equity futures have now edged higher, an improvement from the earlier morning picture and supportive of the neutral-to-positive stance.
■ Credit: CoreWeave's distressed bond yields have not disappeared. The equity rebound is therefore not yet fully confirmed by credit markets.
■ Treasuries: US government yields have found a floor after Thursday's safe-haven rally. Markets continue to assign a meaningful probability to a rate increase later this month.
■ Warsh: Fed Chair Kevin Warsh offered no clear signal on the next meeting in Bangkok and again stressed that he does not prejudge policy decisions.
■ Desk read: Slightly lower risk-free yields are helpful to cash-rich hyperscalers. For heavily financed AI businesses, company-specific credit spreads matter far more.
Coming days
■ Schneider Electric: During trading we will focus on whether the VWAP continues to act as support. If it holds, a move back toward the all-time high becomes possible again.
■ CoreWeave: Credit spreads, bond yields and access to new capital remain the main stress indicators for the neocloud sector.
■ Anthropic: Valuation discussions and ultimately the IPO will become important tests of how much capital investors remain willing to commit to AI software at very high valuations.
■ Micron: The planned October 19 worker action becomes fundamentally relevant only if production is actually disrupted.
■ BESI: October 22 brings the real new datapoints: bookings, hybrid bonding, photonics and advanced packaging.
■ Lam Research: Upcoming results need to confirm whether exceptionally strong foundry, memory and packaging investment is flowing into equipment revenue.
■ Market: The strongest bullish confirmation would combine rising semiconductor equities, intact earnings expectations and falling AI-infrastructure credit spreads.
Desk view
■ Market: Neutral to positive. Acute liquidation pressure is easing and the newest company data do not support a fundamental break in the leading-edge AI cycle.
■ Schneider: Results are exceptionally strong. Triple-digit data-center demand, record backlog and another guidance increase confirm that power, cooling and automation have become essential AI bottlenecks. Technically, however, we first want the VWAP to hold.
■ CoreWeave: This remains the clearest warning. Enormous demand and backlog do not automatically generate attractive returns when leverage and capex are extreme.
■ NVIDIA: Huang's reassurance on CoreWeave must be viewed alongside NVIDIA's large financial and commercial interest in the company. At the same time, demand continues broadening through automotive and physical AI.
■ TSMC / ASML: Physical bottlenecks remain intact. TSMC is aggressively expanding capacity while ASML cannot fully satisfy customer requirements in coming years.
■ BESI: ASML hybrid bonding is a known mild long-term competitive risk, not fresh news. Actual orders and the pace of HBM hybrid-bonding adoption now matter much more.
■ Memory: Markets are pricing future Chinese supply before competitive mass-production yields have been proven. At the same time, Micron's new HBM capacity is already sold. The physical cycle has not yet broken.
■ Networking / optics / test: OCP and SEMICON West confirm that the next constraints are increasingly shifting toward interconnects, memory fabrics, power, optics, packaging and test.
■ AI returns: Anthropic and CoreWeave together show that investors are becoming far more demanding about the economic return on AI capex. That is healthy for the industry but difficult for companies dependent primarily on revenue growth and cheap financing.
■ Conclusion: For larger investors, the superior risk-reward is no longer in indiscriminately buying AI or semiconductor beta. Preference belongs to businesses with real physical scarcity, pricing power, strong balance sheets, high barriers to entry and customers capable of funding investment from healthy cash flows. Schneider Electric increasingly belongs in that higher-quality AI-infrastructure group alongside the strongest parts of the leading-edge semiconductor, memory, power and connectivity chains.
